Ceredigion Home Boarding with Jill Sampson: a lovely, safe environment and excellent care, just like home, for your dog!

Our Labrador has recently become a home boarder at Jill Sampson’s Ceredigion Dog Boarding. We have used kennels for her in the past but as we needed to be away for more than a week, we were concerned that would be distressing for a dog who started her life with us when we were all just emerging from  Lockdown, so has been used to our pretty constant companionship. Then we found to our surprise that less than ten minutes away was a place she could home board.

Jill is very careful to make sure that any dog she boards will get on well with her and her two lovely rescue dogs, so she insists on an initial trial two hours stay, then if that is successful, an overnight stay to be sure that the guest dog will be happy and the hosts too.

This meant that when we left her for this longer period away from us, for almost two weeks, she was very happy to stay. In fact, she bounded out of the car without a look back, so keen was she to play with her new friends! As she is our only dog, this chance to play with other dogs while being looked after is a bonus.

Jill has a very safe environment for the dogs; a lawned enclosed area big enough to chase a ball at speed and a huge paddock where even bigger chases and games can take place. Daisy is a young working stock Lab so absolutely needs exercise, play and tasks, so she was very happy to race around with Jill’s older Lab Eve, as was evidence when Jill posted lovely videos of their play together every few days whilst we were away. This was a pleasure to see and so reassuring. When we returned to collect her Daisy was of course delighted and excited to see us, but we could also see that she was very happy and relaxed. Kennels, no matter how good, can be a somewhat stressful environment for dogs not used to noise and many other animals.

It does cost more to home board a dog but that seems fair when she has individual attention, a peaceful safe environment as near to her normal home conditions as possible, the companionship of two other friendly dogs and a caring, knowledgeable person looking after her. We are so glad to have discovered that we can leave Daisy in very warm and caring circumstances when we need to: thankyou Jill!

Dear Jill 

Just wanted to say thank you for looking after Murphy again for us
this last week, and for the video and photos too. When we dropped him
off he was obviously so pleased to be back with you – racing off
without a backward glance at us! We love the fact that you board dogs
in your home with your own pets and that they’re able to socialise all
day long – perfect for Murphy, who loves a good play but is sometimes
nervous meeting new dogs. Learning from other dogs is brilliant for
him.
We often take Murphy with us when we go away, but knowing there is
somewhere and someone we can happily leave him with when we do leave
him takes all the worry out of dog boarding.

My dog Bailey stayed with Jill for a week in May 22 and I feel that she had the best time, she came home happy and content with no signs of stress like she has when staying at other boarding facilities.
She will be staying with Jill again for 2 weeks in May 23 as I feel that this is one of the only places I would be happy to leave her for a long period of time due to staying in a homely environment and receiving the full attention she needs

If you want to go away and not worry about your dogs, then this is the place! We cannot recommend it highly enough!  We were away for over three weeks, during which time Jill sent us photos and information as to how they were getting on.  We collected our dogs and they were healthy and happy – they had obviously been very settled!  Not sure they were too bothered about seeing us!  Thank you Jill!

Jill regularly looked after my two Tibetan Terriers Doogie and Dillan before she moved to Wales.  They are extremely clever dogs who gave away how they felt when Jill came to collect them.  They literally couldn’t wait to get their wagging tails into the van!  Jill is one of those lovely people who genuinely make the world a better place.  Dorset’s loss is Wales’s gain!

My wife and I have been extremely pleased with the fantastic care and attention given to our Labrador Jazz, whilst staying with Jill.

Between her and her dogs Maya and Sam, she has provided Jazz with a secure, friendly and stimulating environment and Jazz really enjoys her breaks away and has a holiday just as much as we do!  Jazz cannot wait to get in Jill’s car when she arrives to collect her!  Jill is a  genuine animal lover and gives Jazz lots of fuss and attention.

Jill is great with her communication, keeping us informed via text or email before and during Jazz’s stay with her.

Until we met Jill we hadn’t found a suitable dog boarder for Jazz but she  has given us the peace of mind to go away, knowing that Jazz is staying in a safe and fun environment and we would be more than happy to recommend her.

Jenga is a very laid back dog for a rescue hound and enjoys his home comforts. I always feel confident that when he stays with Jill he settles in and feels at home very quickly. He becomes part of the family and I know Jill spends a lot of time with her dogs, so they never feel lonely. Jill takes the dogs to her local woods and they all have fun walking together. It is also somewhere that Jenga knows and feels familiar with.

When I went to collect Jenga from his trial visit, he was stretched out on a sofa in the conservatory like a lord!  Jill is so thorough in finding out all a dog’s preferences that they can’t fail to be happy with her.

We were so pleased to find Jill to look after our lovely Holly. Jill visited us and took details to reassure us that she knew all about Holly. We are sure that she met all Holly’s needs and gave her lots of love and walks while we were away. We would not hesitate to ask her to help us out again. We know that we can leave Holly and have peace of mind.

Poppy
Poppy always has an amazing time with Jill.  When Jill comes to collect Poppy, she can’t wait to leave!!  We’re able to go away safe in the knowledge that poppy is probably having more fun than us!  Poppy also loves Jill’s own dogs.  I trust Jill 100% with Poppy and her collection and delivery of your dog is a really big help. I wouldn’t want Poppy to stay anywhere else while I’m away.

Jill looked after Roque for just over 10 days, he came back home exuberant (I think he had had a better holiday than us – and we had a great time!!!). He had been walked everyday, played with, had doggy friends to tumble around with, got to share Jill’s home (and couch!!!!) and was loved and cuddled.

She was super, clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about dogs welfare. We felt Roque was in safe loving hands from the outset, we could tell when he bounced back in from his trial period with Jill. Also when we were away and we needed to hear how he was doing she always got back to us letting us know he was having a ball!

I would recommend Jill to anyone, we will certainly be using her whenever we go away. She’s a charming lovely lady who will nurture your best friend.

Binty and Daisy
We have used Jill a few times now for our 2 dogs Binty, a Lurcher and Daisy, a Lakeland Terrier.  Jill has been excellent in everyway.  We were so worried the first time we had to leave the girls but Jill kept us informed via texts and sending pictures which put us at ease whilst away.  The girls were clearly so well looked after, we were not too sure they would want to come home!!  We would recommend Jill to anyone and can honestly say we will never use anyone else. Thanks Jill!

Murphy
Murphy is an eight and a half stone (56 kilo) German Shepherd dog. A large animal by any standards for someone to cope with. Jill was not at all fazed by him. It helps that Murphy is stupidly friendly but he IS big. He has stayed with Jill a few times and now leaps straight into her collection van without even bothering to say ‘please’ or ‘goodbye’! I would have no hesitation in recommending her services to anyone.

Holly

Jill is all about dogs, not only her own dogs but my dog and your dog. Holly has been boarding with Jill for over six years and we wouldn’t entrust her care to anyone else. We leave Holly, feeling relaxed that she is having the care she needs, even though now she has only three legs. Jill is loyal, dependable, and goes out of her way to help with a standard of care second to none. It speaks volumes that even though she has re-located to Wales, she still loves and treats Holly as one of her own dogs – she collects her, looks after her and returns her to us as part of her service, all the way to and from Bournemouth. My husband and I highly recommend Jill.
